| The Long Term Care Housing Corporation (LTCHC) helps low-income working families realize the dream of home ownership and aids communities in building strong foundations for the future. Working in partnership with policymakers, public officials, citizens and entrepreneurs, we build affordable housing that fosters sustainable communities.
California housing prices have skyrocketed so high that costs make it nearly impossible for the working poor to secure shelter. Rental expenses are now devouring working family wages to the point where families are forced to sacrifice other basic necessities, such as healthcare, childcare and food. By building quality homes working families can afford to buy, the LTCHC helps break cycles of poverty, revitalizes developing communities, prevents gentrification, and fosters community alliances for an economically just California.

OUR MISSION
To lift families out of poverty by expanding the availability of affordable housing in California through alliances with cities, counties and partners who share our vision of economic and community development.
OUR CLIENTS
The vision for LTCHC transpired from long term care workers' struggle to purchase housing in Southern California, where home ownership has become increasingly elusive for working families. Our primary goal is to aid long term care workers of the
SEIU United Long-Term Care Workers Local 6434
in the acquisition of affordable housing.
SEIU United Long-Term Care Workers Local 6434 represents more than 130,000 homecare and nursing home workers who provide vital care and services to seniors and people with disabilities. The majority of 6434 members are African American, Latino, Asian Pacific Islander and Armenian; the communities with which LTCHC partners reflect that membership.
Our program reaches beyond members of
SEIU United Long-Term Care Workers Local 6434
to also include low-income families in urban and rural areas of California.

HOW WE WORK
neighborhood empowerment
Unlike many developers who push their agenda onto communities, the LTCHC promotes neighborhood empowerment by partnering with city and community officials, neighborhood coalitions and local leaders to create affordable housing.
neighborhood revitalization
Our projects often begin by surveying vacant lots that we can revitalize with landscaping and quality housing or condominiums that expand communities' inventory of affordable residences. Once a site is deemed suitable for development by the community, we work with financial institutions, housing manufacturers, non-profits and other necessary institutions to facilitate the project.
community job creation
As part of our vision to lift families out of poverty and to stabilize developing neighborhoods, we will invest further in the community's economic growth through our job training program that employs local youth as a component of our project.
participant facilitation
Once the homes are underway, we process applications from members of the community and help low-income working families-in-need obtain grants and financing to purchase their new homes. |
